Dr. Lansman received MD and PhD (Biophysics) degrees in 1977 from the State University of New York. He trained under Dr Randall Griepp, becoming a faculty member at Mt Sinai Hospital, and also received training in cardiac transplantation at Stanford University under Dr Norman Shumway. In 2002, he served as Interim Chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai. In 2005 he joined the faculty of New York Medical College and Westchester Medical Center, where he is currently is currently Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery. Dr. Lansman has been a long-time organizer and director of The Aortic Symposium series.
