Dr. Elefteriades, a cardiothoracic surgeon and expert in aortic diseases, is Founding Director of the Aortic Institute at Yale-New Haven. He received his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Yale University with a triple concentration in Physics, French, and Psychology. He did his medical school, general surgery, and cardiac surgery training at Yale. He served as Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Yale University for nearly two decades. He holds the William W. L. Glenn Endowed Chair in surgery. He has authored over 650 scientific articles and 11 books, including two books for the general public (the inspirational Extraordinary Hearts and the medical ethics thriller Transplant). He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal AORTA. He was awarded Honorary Doctorate Degrees by the University of Liege and the University of Parma.
