Marco Ranucci is the director of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia and ICU department of I.R.C.C.S. Policlinico San Donato Hospital. He is the author of 327 peer-reviewed publications. His main interests are (i) risk stratification in cardiac surgery; in this area, he is the inventor of the ACEF score (a risk score for cardiac surgery and PCI included in the ESC/EACTS guidelines); (ii) cardiopulmonary bypass technologies, and (iii) hemostasis and coagulation in critically ill patients. Marco Ranucci participated in writing the hemostasis and coagulation guidelines of the EACTA/EACTS, and those of the SCA. He is in charge for writing the anticoagulation guidelines during ECMO of the ELSO. Past president of ITACTA (Italian Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiologists) and EACTA (European Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiologists). Four books authored by Marco Ranucci on transesophageal echo (Cambridge University Press), cardiac anesthesia (Oxford University Press), hemostasis/coagulation (Springer Verlag) and COVID-19 (Springer Verlag).
